As announced in Washington, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has said he is committed to denuclearization, pledged to refrain from any further nuclear or missile tests, and understands routine joint military exercises between the Republic of Korea and the United States will continue.  Kim also expressed his desire to meet with President Trump.  President Trump has accepted Kim Jong Un’s offer to meet in person.

The United States remains committed to the complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.  We stand together with our allies and partners and insist that we will not repeat the mistakes of the past.  The global maximum pressure campaign will continue until North Korea matches its words with concrete actions.  The global maximum pressure campaign will continue until North Korea matches its words with concrete actions.  We hope this invitation indicates that North Korea understands that there is a different path that it can choose.
