87 days due to the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics at the world famous football (soccer) Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on August 5, 2016, 11 Iranian referees have been formally invited to officiate at the event. 

“With talks held, it is hoped to have more Iranian referees and supervisors called to the event for officiating the Rio games, and so the number is expected to rise in the next months,” said the President of the National Olympic Committee of Iran Kiumars Hashemi.
