Chez Guerlain. Une ville, un parfum
Guerlain

The exercise of the A City, A Fragrance collection is to capture the soul, atmosphere and very identity of an inspiring city. Each getaway is a new adventure. A very intimate way to experience a sensorial journey.

London. An intimate interpretation of London that opens with mouth-watering tearoom aromas: a very clever rhubarb accord that teases the nose. Grapefruit and bergamot heighten this unusual impression. While the bucolic violet adorns the lawns of Kensington Gardens in the spring, it is interpreted here in a candied version to recall the famous tangy English sweets with their explosive colours. Together with a duo of roses, the creation is as tender as a mischievous young woman from London and a tad shameless. The floral couple flirts with a light woody base to add detail and a breeze of fantasy, very British, of course. On the bottle with its straight, clean lines, Serge Mansau sketched the outline of the Tower Bridge, engraved in platinum. The journeys follow one after the other, but each remains happily unique. Created in 2011, London is the fourth stopover on this scented world tour. A duo of fresh roses, given a relaxed and thrilling accent with rhubarb: “punk” roses. To accompany you on your every escapade, the bottle adopts the 100 ml travel size allowed in the plane cabin. Moscow. The ultra-feminine Moscow perfume echoes the heartbeat that pounds through the Russian capital. This city throbs with life! Strolling through the opulent shopping arcades of the GUM, you are intoxicated by the heady fragrance of white musk and tonka bean. A sensual and elegant trace of vanilla and bergamot stays with you as you cross the Red Square. As you pass the Bosco Café, a sudden aroma of red currants delights your senses, as Moscow locals sip their favourite beverage. Your senses stirred, you head off or some refreshment at the Botanical Gardens. In the distance, you glimpse a verdant forest of pine needles. You can still hear the heart of Moscow beating. On the bottle with its straight, clean lines, Serge Mansau sketched the outline of the Kremlin, engraved in platinum. The journeys follow one after the other, but each remains happily unique. Created in 2009, Moscow is the first stopover in this scented world tour. A balance between intense freshness, delicious indulgence and a lasting aura. New York excites the taste buds by transporting the senses to the heart of Manhattan on Christmas Eve. From the elegant Uptown to bohemian Downtown, spicy aromas float out of kitchen windows. A joyful frenzy reigns on Broadway, whose lights seem to sparkle with a new radiance. The celebrations will start in just a few hours in this city where anything is possible. Already, the air is thick with a scent of cedar, cinnamon and bergamot. On the bottle with its straight, clean lines, Serge Mansau sketched a view of Manhattan, engraved in platinum. The journeys follow one after the other, but each remains happily unique. Created in 2009, New York is the second stopover in this scented world tour. A pure woody, vibrant and spicy fragrance for all men and women in search of a fragrance that strays from the usual floral, fruity and sweet notes. Shanghai, the dizzying city in constant evolution, has managed to keep some of the attractions of centuries past. Wander through the Chen Xiang Ge Temple with its woody scents and the lush Yu garden sprinkled with exotic flowers, get pulled into more sensorial spots, such as the Old Street Market or the traditional Tong Han Chun Tang pharmacy with its smell of anise and almond or sample a jasmine tea at the Huxinting teahouse. Then, give in to the overabundant energy and extravagance of the megalopolis and drink up the bright neon lights with your eyes. On the bottle with its straight, clean lines, Serge Mansau sketched the outline of the famous Pearl Tower, engraved in platinum. The journeys follow one after the other, but each remains happily unique. Created in 2012, Shanghai is the last stopover in this scented world tour. A precious, creamy, majestic and woody fragrance that recalls the mystery of Buddhist temples. Tokio, the serenity of a Japanese garden. Tokyo evokes all the subtlety of the Japanese capital. Ultra-modern, yet bound to its traditions. The sun is still low in the sky; it is the perfect time to awaken your senses in Hibiya Park, a cocoon of tranquillity in the midst of turmoil. The morning dew gives off a fragrance of jasmine and violet, intertwined with Hinoki cypress. You stop in a teahouse, a world apart where green tea and jasmine scent the air. You allow yourself to be transported by the legendary, almost magical tea-drinking tradition. It is with regret that you leavethe ceremony you wish could last forever. But Ginza, the Champs-Élysées of Tokyo, is already calling your name. On the bottle with its straight, clean lines, Serge Mansau sketched the outline of the Shinjuku skyscrapers, engraved in platinum. The journeys follow one after the other, but each remains happily unique. Created in 2009, Tokyo is the third stopover in this scented world tour. All the emblems of Japan are interpreted in Western style: yuzu, Hinoki cypress and authentic matcha tea.
