Russian & Italian FMs signed a programme of the Russian-Italian cooperation in culture & education for 2016-2018

Rome - Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was on a working visit in Italy where he held intense talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni and met with President Sergio Mattarella. This visit was made to carry on a bilateral dialogue on current international issues. It focused on the fight against international terrorism and the situation in Syria and Libya.

The sides also discussed solutions to the internal Ukrainian crisis and the need for strict compliance with the Minsk Agreements of February 12, 2015. Both sides have reaffirmed a willingness to continue their constructive cooperation in all spheres. They also discussed initiatives for strengthening bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, cultural ties, tourism and relations between the Russian and Italian peoples. The foreign ministers signed a programme of Russian-Italian cooperation in culture and education for 2016-2018. On December 11, Sergey Lavrov addressed the Rome Mediterranean Dialogues (MED 2015) international conference organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI).
